1.Have a willing recipient

2.Sharp haircutting scissors and comb

3.Drape client with a cutting cape

4.Wet the hair using a spray bottle

5.Part hair down the middle of head and comb hair down

6.Cut around the perimeter the desired length

7.(for layers)Make a mohawk section on top of the head,comb straight up, and cut desired length

8.Make 1/2 in. vertical sections starting on the clients left side.

9.(short layers,man's cut)use the shape of the head and blend with the mohawk section,continue with 1/2 in. sections all the way around the head.

10.(long layers,woman's cut)same sections, but bringing the hair up so the bottom hair is not cut into.

11.cross-check your cut in opposite direction.(horizontal)

12.for men use a trimmer/clipper and trim neck hair and side burns.
