How do you get rid of split ends without cutting your hair?

My daughter has really really long hair, and I noticed this morning while I was brushing it that it is slowly getting split ends, in the middle of her head. I do not want to cut it, it really is beautiful. Is there some form of treatment you can suggest for me to use on her hair? Thanks!

Wow talk about synchronicity :-) I just was noticing the same thing about my 4 year old daughter's beatuiful long hair so last night, after her bath, I put a dab of Redken Extreme Anti-Snap leave-in conditioner on her wet hair. Amazingly, I brushed it out this morning and there were no split ends!

You can put leav-in conditioner on the ends to condition them, but I am affraid that without cutting them you can't really get rid of them.

I would say go to a good hair salon and ask them for the conditioner they will have better things than reagular pharmacy

Its impossible. Ive had long hair most of my life and split ends are inevitable. Some will twist the hair and the split ends will pop out then you can cut them, but its just putting a band aid on the problem.

I've noticed that my hair splits in the middle of my head too. I have layered hair, like Jennifer Aniston's old "Friend's" cut.. my beautician said to regularly trim the ends of my hair but for split ends in the middle of my head to use a Frizz Eaze type product. There isn't anything that can be done about those hairs, other than to smooth them down and eventually they will fall out.

I use Garnier Fruictis products, they work beautifully with my hair.

You can't repair the hair once it has split but you can temporarily diguise the split by using serums and protectant sprays. The hair will be temporarily fixed but you can't undo what is done. In time the split will work it's way further down the shaft of the hair which means cutting even more of the hair off to remove the damaged hair.

If there was I would of hoped I would of known about it but to my knowledge there isn't. Split ends can be treated by just having a trim, I have my hair cut every 6-8 weeks and never have more than 1/2" - 1" cut off because that it all that's required to get rid of split ends. However if you do the opposite and choose to leave the hair and not get it trimmed then it will just get worse until more length will have to be removed to fix it.

I used to be the same in terms of getting my hair cut but when I have it done now I can't tell any length is missing and it just looks better.

as far as i know, there is no way to get rid of split ends without cutting them. split ends are parts on your hair where the hair has become so brittle that it has broken and has/will die. if you really don't want to cut it, then there are shampoos and conditioners that you can use to help strengthen it. you need a really good moisturiser that isn't too thick. i would also suggest that you only wash her hair every other day, because over washing can dry hair out. you might also want to use a leave in conditioner in her hair every week or so over night too. i recommend redken products. they've done amazing things with my hair. hope this helps!

There really isn't a way to. You can prevent them so they don't show up for a longer amount of time. Make sure when you put conditioner in her hair make sure its getting to the ends. You can also put a leave- in conditioner of hair serum to protect the ends more and make them stronger. If she straightens/blow drys/or uses a curling iron on it tell to stop or not use it as much because that will dry it out and make it weaker. Also try not to brush it as often.
